Taobao to Launch "Appliance City"

Chinese B2C and C2C e-commerce site Taobao has released the "Taobao Alliance City Genuine Product Vendor Recruitment" plan for its rumored 3C vertical site, and indicated that all Taobao merchants will be welcome to take part, rather than limiting participants to malls or markets.
Taobao requires vendors to publish honest and reliable prices for their products, ensure the completeness of packaging and accessories for all products shipped, guarantee that the products are new and have been released for sale on the Chinese mainland, and provide all nationally-mandated warranty and repair guarantees throughout the country. Vendors signing on to the new 3C mall will also be required to pay shipping fees for products and support consumer protection agreements.
Taobao listed mobile handsets, notebook computers, lifestyle and kitchen appliances, digital cameras, office equipment, and digital media accessories among the products it seeks to offer, and said it would require vendors to pay an RMB 10,000 deposit to participate.
