Alibaba Announces Partnership with Xinhua News Agency
Xinhuanet, 11/30/09
China's Xinhua News Agency has signed a partnership agreement for a strategic alliance with Internet firm Alibaba Group.
According to the agreement, Xinhua will provide Alibaba with a variety of information services spanning domestic and foreign macroeconomic news, and industry, policy, and market information. The two sides also agreed to join in creating a news center on the Alibaba-owned Yahoo China.
Xinhua will also organize specialized analysis and technology R&D teams to build digital analysis systems to store, organize, process, and analyze Alibaba.com's (1688.HK) massive quantities of e-commerce transaction data. With the data gleaned from Alibaba, Xinhua will use its own channels, including the Xinhuanet.com website, "Xinhua 08," as well as its price watch and economic analysis reports, to publish real-time information on market conditions, SME economic conditions, and economic trends.
