People.com.cn, 11/16/09
China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) Beijing subsidiary has launched a new "multi-number" service allowing Beijing Mobile subscribers to bind up to three additional numbers to their existing SIM card and select whether to use the primary or auxiliary numbers attached to the card; all incoming calls to primary and secondary numbers will be directed to the subscriber's mobile phone. All Beijing Mobile GoTone, M-Zone, and EasyOwn "Changtingka" (Easy Listening Card), and "Jiayuanka" (Home Card) subscribers can sign up for the new service. Each auxiliary number will be charged at RMB 15 per month; all calls will be billed to the primary number account.
Beijing Mobile also launched a new Hong Kong roaming service allowing subscribers to add a dedicated Hong Kong secondary roaming number to their existing SIM cards. When in Hong Kong, subscribers to the new roaming service will automatically be signed on to the network through the secondary number, and will enjoy discounts of up to 83% (RMB 0.39 per minute to receive/place local calls; RMB 0.69 per minute for calls to Mainland numbers), and will also be able to receive calls and SMS through their primary number. On the Chinese mainland and in other countries and regions, subscribers will automatically be signed on to the network through their primary number, though they will still be able to receive calls and messages sent to the secondary number. Beijing GoTone and M-Zone prepaid subscribers can subscribe to the service for RMB 9 per month.
