Changyou Licenses MMORPG "Shui Hu Q Zhuan"

Techweb, 11/11/09

Changyou (Nasdaq: CYOU), the gaming subsidiary of Chinese internet company Sohu (Nasdaq: SOHU), officially announced today that it had licensed the MMORPG "Da Hua Shui Hu," the company's first cartoon-style turn-based 2D online game.

Formerly operated by Kingsoft (3888.HK) under the title "Shui Hu Q Zhuan," "Dahua Shuihu" was developed by Guangzhou-based developer Firestone Software, which licensed the game to Kingsoft in July 2006. At its height, peak concurrent users surpassed 200,000.

A source revealed that Changyou has reached a consensus with Firestone regarding changes to the game's task system, account security, and anti-hacking systems, and is currently at work implementing the changes. The source also revealed that following public beta testing, the game could release two expansion packs within the next six months.
