China Telecom: E-Surfing 3G Handset Models Reach 500

At the 2009 China Internet Conference today, Zhang Xin, director China Telecom's (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) residential subscriber department, said that there are 500 3G handset models from 160 manufacturers available on China Telecom's E-Surfing 3G network.

Zhang said that China Telecom's 3G network coverage has already extended to all county-level and larger cities, and that in the second half of 2009, non-voice services revenue increased to 50% of the company's total revenue. In addition, China Telecom's E-Surfing Spaces applications store is now available as a public beta, and currently supports mobile phone and PC clients, and will in the future support other platforms including IPTV.
