Voole, TCL May Cooperate on Internet TV
China Computer World, 10/22/09
At a press conference marking the launch of new products supporting Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer TCL's (000100.SZ) MiTV Internet TV service, Han Qing, TCL Corporation president and general manager of TCL Multimedia's (1070.HK) China Services Center, commented on rumors that the company may work together with online video-on-demand provider Voole, saying that "as long as it's legally licensed material, cooperation is entirely possible."
Han said that TCL is committed to ensuring copyright protection for the content available on its internet TV services, and all companies with which it works must sign copyright protection agreements.
Voole's Zhu Jiang said that Voole is willing to cooperate with Chinese TV manufacturers, and that Voole is currently integrating its resources, including content and applications based on its CDN infrastructure and HD technology.
Editor's Note: It was previously reported in August that Voole would sue TCL for copyright infringement. For more background, please see "Voole to Sue TCL for Copyright Infringement on Internet TV" MD 8/18/09 issue.
