CMMB Service Available in 198 Cities

As of October 12, China Multimedia Mobile Broadcasting (CMMB) services have begun in 198 cities across China. By the end of 2009, nationwide CMMB pricing, fees, and program lineup will be unified, and and commercial launch achieved. Users will be able to receive six channels - CCTV 1, 3, 5, and CCTV News, as well as their main provincial and city channel.
From August 25 to December 21, as part of the national CMMB promotional rollout, CMMB users will be able to purchase an RMB 36 "Jingcai" promotional card that will give them access to six programs - including encrypted programs - until the end of June 2010. Users can request a "Jingcai" card via SMS, through online or telephone service centers, or by going to a sales center.
Currently the China Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and 26 provincial operators have signed onto the framework agreement. 15 provinces have already completed CMMB rollout, and in the future CMMB operations will be brought to all of China's 7 major regions.
