Baidu YouA Launches New B2C Channel
Baidu, 10/13/09
Chinese internet company Baidu's (Nasdaq: BIDU) e-commerce platform YouA has officially opened a B2C subchannel called "Name Brand" (http://co.youa.baidu.com/content/brand/). The channel is targeted at independent B2C companies, distributors, and manufacturers. According to the participation agreement, vendors must adhere to a consumer rights protection scheme in which the platform acts as a guarantor. If an issue arises during a transaction - for example, a quality problem - the platform can move first to compensate the customer, and guarantees a seven-day return period. All of the flagship store's vendors also support cash on delivery. For participating vendors, the platform's independent store system will integrate with the vendor's backend, allowing for synchronization of product orders and inventory data.
Baidu will eventually consolidate its various services, providing vendors with one-stop service from services ranging from advertising and traffic routing to monetization.
