Tenpay Launches Game Micropayment Accounts

CCID, 9/27/09

Tenpay, the third-party payment platform of Chinese internet value-added service company Tencent (0700.HK), recently announced a new "game account" feature that supports micropayments and aims to provide gamers with online payment services.

A spokesperson for Tenpay said that any user with a Tenpay account would also automatically have a game account; by clicking on the "sub-account" section of the Tenpay homepage navigation bar, users can enter the game account page to add funds that will be instantly available for use within Tenpay. Game accounts enjoy the same security as regular Tenpay accounts; funds can be added to the accounts via bank card or Tenpay payment, or can be linked to Tenpay account balance. For the majority of games that support payments through the game account system, gamers will enjoy a 12% discount when paying through Tenpay. Tenpay will also host occasional promotions.

Tencent's game QQ Dancer will officially release a game client supporting the service on October 17.
