Google China to Target SMEs, Double Sales Team

John Liu, head of Google sales for the Greater China Region, global vice president, and new managing director of Google China, has set forth 3 strategies for the company's China business: First, to launch a 2009 "Win@Google" enterprise campaign forum which will be held in 29 locations across 25 cities in China throughout the next month, for which Google will invest RMB 50 mln to help small and medium enterprises launch search marketing campaigns. Second, Liu plans to double the size of Google China's sales team. Third, Liu plans to bring on one of Google's European sales agency managers to help grow the company's agency sales in China; Liu explained that Google China has a three-pronged sales structure, consisting of direct sales, online sales, and sales outsourced through 28 cooperating agencies.
Editor's Note: Liu also said that Google China plans to continue improving its music search and map products, including desktop and mobile maps, particularly map service for smartphones.
