Shanghai Telecom Launches New Broadband Promotion

Shanghai Telecom has released new broadband subscription packages that do away with monthly subscription fees for 2Mbps subscriptions. The 3G-based promotional plan targets subscribers who make use of Telecom's fixed-line phone service, broadband, and E-Surfing mobile packages, and will be available until September 30.
Subscription plans currently fall into three categories: the first provides a half year of RMB 2Mbps broadband access at half-price - RMB 75 per month - to subscribers who commit to a monthly prepaid talk time fee of RMB 189; the second category provides free 2Mbps broadband to subscribers who commit to talk time fees of RMB 299 per month. The third category provides free 2Mbps broadband, more than 100 hours of 3G wireless broadband time, and a wireless data card to subscribers who commit to RMB 359 in talk time fees. Under plan policy, all talk time fees generated by a subscriber using fixed-line or mobile phones, whether for local calls, domestic long-distance, or roaming calls, are billed against the selected prepaid amount.
