Shanda Q2 Revenues Up 11.8% QoQ, Beats Guidance

Online game developer and operator Shanda (Nasdaq: SNDA) has announced its unaudited financial results for Q2 2009, with net revenues reaching RMB 1.24 bln (USD 181.1 mln). The figure represents growth of 47.7% year-on-year and 11.8% quarter-on-quarter, beating previous quarter-over-quarter guidance of growth between 8% and 10%.
Net income for the quarter came to RMB 426.9 mln (USD 62.5 mln), up 52.6% YoY and 18.2% QoQ.
Revenue from MMORPGs increased 54.6% YoY and 13.8% QoQ to RMB 1.07 bln (USD 157.3 mln). Revenue from casual games decreased 4.3% YoY and 12.7% QoQ to RMB 102.9 mln (USD 15.1 mln).
Active paying accounts (APA) for MMORPGs increased 19.4% QoQ to RMB 8.58 mln. Average monthly revenue per active paying account (ARPU) for MMORPGs decreased 4.7% QoQ to RMB 41.7. APA for casual games decreased 9.6% QoQ to 1.86 mln. ARPU for casual games decreased 3.4% QoQ to RMB 18.4.
Other revenues in the second quarter of 2009 increased 70.6% YoY and 33.6% QoQ to RMB 59.6 mln (USD 8.7 mln).
