Kingsoft Q2 2009 Profit Up 89% YoY

Chinese application and entertainment software developer Kingsoft (3888.HK) has announced its financial results for Q2 2009, with net revenues reaching RMB 240 mln, up 39.7% YoY, but up 1.6% QoQ. Net income attributable to shareholders in Q2 reached RMB 96.6 mln, up 89.4% YoY, but down 4.3% QoQ.
Revenue from entertainment software came to RMB 158.3 mln, up 46.6% YoY but down 2.9% QoQ.
Revenue from applications software came to RMB 78.9 mln, up 26.6% YoY, and 9.7% QoQ.
Daily average peak concurrent users of the company's massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) was up 13% year-over-year and no change quarter-on-quarter to 0.95 mln. The number of monthly average paying users increased 27% YoY, but decreased 13.3% QoQ to 1.32 mln.
Monthly ARPU for Kingsoft's MMORPGs increased 15% YoY and 8.3% QoQ to RMB 39. Daily average paying users of Kingsoft Internet Security online services came to 8.2 mln, down 6% YoY.
Monthly ARPU for online services of Kingsoft Internet Security business increased by RMB 0.5 YoY to RMB 2.1. This increase resulted primarily from an increase in the proportion of SMS and bank card subscribers with higher monthly ARPU.
