Shanghai Telecom to Charge for IPTV Education Programs

Starting September 1, Shanghai Telecom will begin to charge for the Yi Ke Yi Lian ("One Class, One Drill") and Xue Le Zhongguo ("Happy Study") programs on its IPTV education channel. Yi Ke Yi Lian targets students from primary school to high school, while Xue Le Zhongguo targets only students in primary school.

Charges for Yi Ke Yi Lian (www.yikeyilian.com) will be based on the educational level of the user, with different charges for primary, middle, and high school users: RMB 8 per month, RMB 40 for 6 months, or RMB 70 per year for primary school students and RMB 15 per month, RMB 50 for 6 months, or RMB 80 per year for middle and high school students.

Charges for Xue Le Zhongguo (www.xuelecn.com) will be RMB 15 per month, RMB 70 for 6 months, or RMB 120 per year for single classes, or RMB 20 per month, RMB 100 for 6 months, or RMB 180 per year for two classes. Other features on the education channel will remain free for the time being.
