China Business News Defends 5 Mln iPhone Story

China Business News has spoken in defense of an earlier news report that stated Guangdong Unicom purchased 5 mln iPhones for RMB 10 bln, which Guangdong Unicom accused of "gross inaccuracies," saying that other reports confirmed the interviews with Guangdong Unicom management. China Business News went on to say that not only could numerous journalists attest to the accuracy of the quotes, but that the interviews were recorded as well. After Guangdong Unicom issued the statement accusing China Business News, the television news program demanded that Guangdong Unicom retract accusations of false reporting and apologize, or face legal action. As a result, just a few hours after Guangdong Unicom's statement reached the national media, the telecom operator was forced to contact every major website and media outlet and request they remove the accusation.
