China Telecom Completes 3G Coverage of Major Cities

A source from China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) has revealed that the operator had met its target for first-phase 2009 base station construction ahead of schedule by the end of July. China Telecom's E-Surfing branded 3G network now offers complete coverage of all county-level and higher cities nationwide, including 342 prefecture-level cities, 2,055 counties and county-level cities, as well as 6,000 villages in developed rural areas throughout eastern coastal provinces.
