Google China Predictive Search Returns

Beijing Times, 7/27/09

After having been shut down for six weeks as part of an ongoing crackdown on pornography, Google China's predictive text search services have resumed. Searches now done for pornographic or vulgar terms will bring back the message, "In accordance with local laws and policies, a portion of these search results have not been displayed."

Industry insiders have stated that the resumption of Google China's predictive text search function suggests that the results of the company's housecleaning efforts have been met with government approval.
