China Mobile Encourages TD-SCDMA/CMMB Integration

An industry source has revealed that in order to expand the appeal of TD-SCDMA data cards, China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) is encouraging manufacturers to bundle their data cards with CMMB functionality. The source said that previously, some TD-SCDMA phones had to be loaded with CMMB modules, but new models of TD-SCDMA data cards preloaded with CMMB technology have recently hit the market, such as cards made by ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) and Datang (600198.SH). China Mobile has not yet called for TD-SCDMA netbooks to be integrated with CMMB.
