China Mobile to Replace Phase-2 TD-SCDMA Equipment

Ccidcom, 6/26/09

At a recent lecture titled "Look to mobile for scientific development," China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) VP Zhang Xiaotie revealed that the third phase of TD-SCDMA construction, slated for completion at the end of this year, will see the replacement of a large amount of the equipment from the second phase of construction, primarily because some of that equipment was unable to meet the operator's network quality standards for TD-SCDMA, does not support soft upgrades to LTE, or occupies too much space. Zhang didn't reveal the names of the companies who made the problem equipment, and said that the equipment replacements would not hinder third-phase construction.

Beijing Mobile GM He Ning revealed that the most noticeable problem with TD-SCDMA network construction at present is radio interference. In order to eliminate the problem, Beijing Mobile has dismantled 50 base stations and changed base station locations for more optimal network performance.
