MIIT to Support TD-SCDMA Application Software Developers

Vice-director Zhao Bo of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's (MIIT) Department of Electronics and Information said today at an industry forum on terminals that in addition to continued support for China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK), TD-SCDMA chip manufacturers and handset producers, the next step in the MIIT's strategy to foster TD-SCDMA industry development will include support of enterprises developing TD-SCDMA application software. Zhao also predicted that within the next three years, 3G video content services could become an RMB 100 bln to 200 bln market in China.
