Shanda Q1 2009 Profit Up 25%

Online game developer and operator Shanda (Nasdaq: SNDA) has announced its unaudited financial results for Q1 2009, with net revenues reaching RMB 1.107 bln (USD 162 mln), up 42% year-on-year and 9.1% quarter-on-quarter.
Net income for the quarter came to RMB 361 mln (USD 52.8 mln), up 25% YoY and 10.6% QoQ.
Revenue from MMORPGs increased 47.4% YoY and 8.0% QoQ to RMB 944.5 mln (USD 138.2 mln). Revenue from casual games increased 1.1% YoY and 21.3% QoQ to RMB 117.9 mln (USD 17.2 mln).
Active paying accounts (APA) for MMORPGs increased 22.1% QoQ to RMB 7.19 mln. Average monthly revenue per active paying account (ARPU) for MMORPGs decreased 11.5% QoQ to RMB 43.8. APA for casual games increased 37.7% QoQ to 2.06 mln. ARPU for casual games decreased 11.9% QoQ to RMB 19.1.
Other revenues in the first quarter of 2009 increased 99.6% YoY and 3.1% QoQ to RMB 44.7 mln (USD 6.6 mln).
