Kingsoft Q1 2009 Profit Up 77% YoY

Chinese application and entertainment software developer Kingsoft (3888.HK) has announced its financial results for Q1 2009, with net revenues reaching RMB 236.2 mln, up 35% YoY, but down 8% QoQ. Net income attributable to shareholders in Q1 reached RMB 100.9 mln, up 77% YoY and 4% QoQ.
Revenue from entertainment software came to RMB 162.8 mln, up 35% YoY but down 8% QoQ.
Revenue from applications software came to RMB 72.0 mln, up 34% YoY, but down 10% QoQ.
Daily average peak concurrent users of the company's massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) was up 50% year-over-year but down 8% quarter-over-quarter to 0.95 mln. The number of monthly average paying users increased 36% YoY, but decreased by 3% QoQ to 1.5 mln.
Monthly ARPU for Kingsoft's MMORPGs decreased by 5% QoQ and held flat year-over-year to RMB 36. Daily average paying users of Kingsoft Internet Security online services came to 8.5 mln, up 2% YoY.
Monthly ARPU for online services of Kingsoft Internet Security business increased by RMB 0.5 YoY to RMB 1.9. This increase resulted primarily from an increase in the proportion of SMS and bank card subscribers with higher monthly ARPU.
