ChinaEdu Q1 2009 Net Profit Up 358%

Chinese education services provider ChinaEdu (Nasdaq: CEDU) has announced its unaudited financial results for Q1 2009, with net revenues reaching RMB 81.2 mln (USD 11.9 mln), up 16.5% year-on-year.
Net income for the quarter came to RMB 9.6 mln (USD 1.4 mln), up 358.3% YoY.
Revenue for the quarter from online degree programs increased by 19.7% to RMB 65.8 mln (USD 9.6 mln). The number of revenue-generating students in online degree programs during the first quarter of 2009 increased by approximately 30% to over 118,000.
Revenue from non-online degree programs (online tutoring program, international curriculum programs and private primary and secondary schools) was RMB 15.4 mln (USD 2.3 mln), up 4.8% YoY.
The company estimates Q2 2009 revenues will range between RMB 83 mln and RMB 87 mln.
