Update: China Mobile Round-3 TD-SCDMA Equipment Bidding

An employee of one of the telecom equipment suppliers has revealed that third-phase TD-SCDMA equipment bidding is now complete, with technical parameters offered by manufacturers all extremely similar. Commercial bidding will officially commence on May 4, and is expected to be completed by the middle of the month.
One equipment vendor stated that some manufacturers have quietly begun a price war in advance of the start of official bidding, and added that some manufacturers are providing provincial-level operators with free equipment worth more than RMB 100 mln in some provinces.
Eight vendors are participating in TD-SCDMA equipment bidding, including Datang, ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ), Huawei, China Putian (Potevio), Fiberhome (600498.SH), New Postcom, Ericsson, and Nokia Siemens Networks.
