MIIT Releases Jan-Mar 2009 Electronics & IT Industry Statistics

According to statistics newly released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Industry, during the three-month period from January to March 2009, China's electronics and IT manufacturing industry saw a 9.2% PoP drop in industry value, with exports of RMB 566.52 bln, down 15.8%. Sales of electronic instruments and components dropped 15.6% and 14.6%, respectively.
Software service revenues totaled RMB 190.59 bln between January and March, up 23.9% PoP. Software product revenues totaled RMB 67.32 bln, up 25.8%; software technology service revenues totaled RMB 34.85 bln, up 29.7%, of which software outsourcing services accounted for RMB 3.47 bln, up 36.9%; embedded software revenues totaled RMB 34.22 bln, up 17.8%; systems integration revenues totaled RMB 48.76 bln, up 21.9%. IC design revenues totaled RMB 5.42 bln, up 24.9%.
During the same period, the industry produced 30.911 mln microcomputers, up 3.5% PoP. Notebook computers accounted for 26.285 mln of these, up 17.5%. 36.185 mln displays were produced during the same period, up 24%.
Editor's Note: According to the MIIT, software service revenues totaled RMB 64.52 bln in March, up 30.6% PoP. Between January and March, Chinese software exports totaled USD 3.84 bln, of which software outsourcing exports totaled USD 320 mln, up 30.2%.
