ZTE, MetroPCS Partner on 4G Handsets

US wireless services provider MetroPCS Communications has selected Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) to manufacture a 4G smartphone for its upcoming 4G network.
ZTE will develop a series of smartphones based on the LTE standard for MetroPCS, although no release for the handsets has been announced. Previously MetroPCS stated that it planned to begin deployment of a 4G network in 2010, with compatible 4G handsets to arrive on the market at the end of 2010, or early 2011.
