Huawei 2008 Global Sales up 43%

According to data provided by Chinese telecom equipment vendor Huawei, the company recorded global sales revenue in 2008 of USD 18.33 bln, growing by 42.7% year-on-year. Net income grew by 20% year-on-year to USD 1.15 bln. In 2008, 75% of Huawei's total revenue came from international markets; for its handset business, 80% of revenues came from international markets. Sales revenues from handsets and terminals were RMB 4 bln, up 80% year-on-year.
Huawei stated that company growth in 2009 will primarily be driven by 3G network deployment in developing markets in the Asia-Pacific region and China, as well as further cooperation with mainstream operators in mature markets such as North America and Europe.
