CNNIC Releases Chinese Internet Information Security Report

The China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) has released a report on the state of information security among Chinese Internet users in 2008. According to the report, more than 70% of Chinese netizens use free anti-virus software; more than 80% of netizens are worried about security of online personal information; and information security has become an important factor in netizens' online behavior.

The report also mentioned that 96.1% of Netizens have installed security software on their PC, with 70.5% of them choosing a security software suite from the same brand, including at least anti-virus and firewall software. 28% of netizens have used online virus scanning services, and 30% had also used online virus cleaning services. Currently, nearly 100 mln Chinese netizens use online banking, accounting for approximately 33.4% of all Chinese netizens.
