Browser Game Developer Raises First Round of Funding

Browser game developer Gamegoo Information Technology (formerly Youxia Network Information Technology) has obtained first round investment funding from Qiming Venture Partners and Disney's venture capital firm Steamboat Ventures worth RMB 80 mln. The company has also announced its 2009 strategic targets, stating it will use the funds to develop 3 new browser games by the end of the year.
Youxia Network was established in September 2007, and changed its name to Gamegoo Information Technology on January 20, 2009, launching its current online entertainment platform Youxigu.com at the same time. The company currently employs over 80 staff and is involved primarily in the research, development, and operation of browser games. The company's web-based RPG "Might and Hero" was selected for online game developer and operator Shanda's (Nasdaq: SNDA) "18 Plan" industry development fund, in which on the 18th of each month, Shanda's executive management listen to potential game ideas, and provide funding for worthwhile projects.
