Intel China R&D Center GM Resigns
Sina Tech, 3/09/09
A source inside Intel has confirmed that Intel (China) R&D Center GM Du Jiangling will step down. The reasons for Du's departure remain unclear, and Intel would not comment. Of note, however, is that Du is stepping down following changes in Intel China's reporting structure. In early January, Yang Xu was promoted to president for the China region, with the scope of his duties expanding from sales and marketing to add manufacturing, R&D, and Intel Capital. Du, who had formerly reported directly to Intel's US headquarters, was required to report to Yang after his promotion.
Following Yang's promotion, Wang Wenhan, who had been responsible for Intel's R&D in China, was transferred back to the United States. Du's departure could mean that following the reorganizing of Intel's R&D personnel, all those formerly responsible for R&D will leave their positions. Du had worked at Intel for 15 years, and had been responsible for Intel's China R&D center for nearly 4 years.
