Shanda Q4 2008 Net Profit Up 17%

Chinese online game developer and operator Shanda (Nasdaq: SNDA) has issued its earnings report for Q4 2008, with consolidated net revenues reaching RMB 1.02 bln (USD 148.5 mln), up 42.1% year-over-year and 8.4% quarter-over-quarter. 2008 full-year consolidated net revenues were RMB 3.57 bln (USD 522.2 mln), representing an increase of 44.7% from 2007.
Net income for the quarter came to RMB 342.7 mln (USD 50.1 mln) up 17.1% YoY and 1.7% QoQ. Net income for fiscal year 2008 decreased 11% to RMB 1.25 bln (USD 182.7 mln).
Quarterly revenues from MMORPGs increased 45.1% YoY and 13.3% QoQ to RMB 874.6 mln (USD 128.0 mln). Revenues from casual games increased 13.3% YoY and decreased 18.8% QoQ to RMB 97.1 mln (USD 14.2 mln).
During the quarter, active paying accounts (APA) for MMORPGs increased 13.5% QoQ to 5.89 mln. Average monthly revenue per active paying account (ARPU) for MMORPGs decreased 0.1% QoQ to RMB 49.5. APA for casual games decreased 15.2% QoQ to 1.50 mln. ARPU for casual games decreased 4.3% QoQ to RMB 21.6.
Annual revenues from MMORPGs increased 46.1% YoY to RMB 2.98 bln (USD 436.4 mln). Revenues from casual games increased 33.8% YoY to RMB 441.0 mln (USD 64.5 mln).
