Sina Sues Hacker for DOS Attack

Beijing Business Today, 12/03/08

As a result of repeated hacker attacks launched in December last year against the UT Game portal, which is run by Chinese Internet portal Sina (Nasdaq: SINA), the services offered by UT Game were unavailable for a total of more than 500 minutes, causing RMB 484,200 in damages due to lost advertising time, server room rental and system administrator wages. Sina is seeking RMB 570,000 in compensation from the hacker behind the incident, Zhang Bo. The case is being heard by the Beijing Haidian District People's Court, which will release its verdict shortly.
