China Mobile Hong Kong Subsidiary Promotes New Services

Communications Weekly, 11/28/08

China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) Hong Kong subsidiary, China Mobile Peoples, announced yesterday the launch of a new "1-Card-Multi-Number" service that will allow users to have multiple phone numbers for Hong Kong, mainland China and Macau associated with a single SIM card. In addition, current mainland China Mobile subscribers can continue using their existing phone numbers with the new service. The service offers automatic switching of numbers when the subscriber enters a 1-Card-Multi-Number region, meaning that roaming fees will not be charged when the subscriber is in Hong Kong and receives calls originating from a Hong Kong number, and likewise, for when the subscriber is in Guangdong, Beijing or Shanghai and receives a local call from those areas.
