China Telecom Establishes Terminal Subsidiary

China Telecom, with investment from its listed subsidiary, has established a new subsidiary named "Tianyi Telecom Terminal Co, Ltd" (branded "E-surfing") that will be responsible for mobile terminal development strategy, operator customization, group purchasing, and marketing. Tianyi will be managed under China Telecom's individual client services division, and will be branded as the "China Telecom Mobile Terminal Management Center".

80% of staff for the newly created company will come from Unicom Huasheng's employee base, with branch companies in each province to be managed directly by China Telecom. A company insider has revealed that company headquarters is focusing on handset models directed at mid- to high-end users, with each province acting according to its own specific situation.
