MIIT Publishes Q3 Telecom Complaint Statistics

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released telecommunications service quality statistics for the third quarter of 2008. During the quarter there were 10,334 complaints, of which 34.2% were related to service, a drop of 4.2% from last quarter. Complaints regarding quality accounted for 21.2%, down 2% from the last quarter. Payment disputes accounted for 44.6% of complaints, a rise of 2.2% from last quarter and reports of SMS spam dropped by 71.2%.

In addition, 130 value-added telecommunication enterprises were investigated for breaches of regulations, with 12 of these enterprises being investigated by 3 or more provincial telecommunication authorities.
