ZTE Releases PHS Spectrum TD-SCDMA Base Station
Tencent Tech, 11/03/08
Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ) recently launched a TD-SCDMA base station that supports A-band frequencies (1880-1920MHz). The equipment has passed relevant functional testing, and can now be used on a portion of the spectrum currently in use by PHS band (1800-1900MHz) mobile phones.
Editor's Note: The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has allocated the spectrum that is currently in use by PHS services to China Mobile for TD-SCDMA development and is currently moderating between China Telecom and China Netcom to free up the spectrum.
