China Unicom Q1-Q3 2008 Profit Up 35% YoY

China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) has announced its unaudited financial results for the first three quarters of 2008, with net revenues reaching RMB 52.48 bln, up 3% year-on-year.

Profit for the period came to RMB 6.99 bln, up 34.84% YoY.

Revenue from its GSM business came to RMB 48.45 bln, up 2.77% YoY. Monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) was RMB 42.8.

Revenue from its data and Internet business came to RMB 2.38 bln, up 2.48% YoY and revenue from its long distance business came to RMB 1.61 bln, up 10.59% YoY.
