SARFT Shuts Down 10 Video Sites

In an announcement released yesterday regarding its "Survey of Internet Audiovisual Programming Services", the State Administration of Radio Film and Television (SARFT) ordered 10 video sharing sites to halt operations and issued warnings and fines to 17 others.
SARFT said that the websites named were hosting content that was pornographic, violent, or deemed harmful to state security and the public interest; some sites were also operating without proper certification. The announcement added that 'cleanup efforts' will be stepped up.
