China Telecom Wins New Service Licenses

An industry source has revealed that China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) recently obtained operating licenses to provide a full range of telecom services. The licenses include a core telecom services license for the provision of CDMA services, satellite communication services and satellite transponder services, as well as a telecom value-added services (VAS) license permitting it to provide telecom services including Internet data centers (IDC) and virtual private networks (VPNs) to 21 provinces and municipalities in southern China, and to operate information services in the 10 provinces of northern China.
