Taobao COO Announces Taobao's Revenue Model

Sina Tech, 10/08/08

Daniel Zhang, COO of B2C and C2C e-commerce firm Taobao, has announced Taobao's revenue model. Zhang said the model would include a limited amount of advertising such as banner ads from stores, as well as pay-per-click and pay-per-transaction advertising and would also incorporate the provision of value-added services for sellers, such as store management and decoration tools. Zhang stated he believed Taobao would see a profit in 2009.

Taobao president Jonathan Lu also revealed that going public had still not been placed on Taobao's agenda, and the issue had not yet been discussed by Taobao and its parent company, the Alibaba Group.
