Hackers Charged with Breaking into Game Servers

Two hackers from Wuhan have been charged with breaking into the media servers of online game developer and Internet firm Sohu (Nasdaq: SOHU) and stealing accounts and game points. Between December 2007 and March 2008, the pair broke into the servers of Sohu's MMORPG Tian Long Ba Bu and obtained the accounts and passwords for administrators and illegally obtained 24.77 mln game points, worth a total of over RMB 1.05 mln. The points were then sold on Chinese e-commerce site Taobao, with the pair netting a total of RMB 760,000. The case is currently being heard at the Wuhan Municipal Intermediate People's Court.
