Sina Becomes .CN Domain Registrar

According to the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC)'s website, Chinese online portal Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) recently became a .CN domain name registrar. An industry insider says Sina's new registrar status means it could possibly introduce personalized e-mail, blog, and SNS URL services in the future. There are currently 52 .CN domain name registrars, including Alibaba, Sina, and Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU). Sohu (Nasdaq: SOHU) gave up its registrar status in February 2008.
