Rumor: SARFT, Local Broadcast Authorities to Operate CMMB

The State Administration of Radio Film and Television (SARFT) recently convened an internal meeting of regional broadcast authorities at which it explicitly stated that local authorities "may jointly operate CMMB services with SARFT." After a national CMMB operating body is established, regional authorities will be able to participate as stockholders in the founding of regional operator subsidiaries to independently oversee local CMMB network construction, and to independently operate under a unified national model.
