Guangdong Provides Mobile Booking Service for Ferries

Guangdong Mobile has released a service that permits users to book ferry tickets using their handsets. The tickets in question are for transit from the port of Shunde in Guangdong to Hong Kong. Users can send an SMS to the booking center to reserve their tickets. After payment is drawn from the mobile account, a confirmation receipt is sent with information on the ferry and a confirmation code. Users can use this same service to cancel reservations, get information on ferry times and search for ticket availability.

Guangdong Mobile is interested in expanding this service, and is currently in talks with 21 other ports.
