China to Release Content Identification Standards

As part of a move to combat online piracy and protect intellectual property rights, the Chinese Ministry of Culture has announced on its website that China will promulgate a national standard for identification codes to be used in online content such as music, video and text.
The National Technical Committee for the Standardization of Information and Documentation (NTCSID) is currently working on five standards which will be sent to the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) for approval before November 15.
These five standards include 4 ISO standards: the International Standard Audiovisual Number (ISAN), the Version Information - International Standard Audiovisual Number (V-ISAN), the International Standard Text Code (ISTC), the International Standard Musical Works Code (ISWC), as well as a further document titled "Content Transmission and Copyright Management: Functional Requirements for the Identification and Description of Music, Films, Video, Recordings and Text Works" .
