Huawei Applies for Game Patents

17173.com, 8/17/08

In 2007, telecommunications equipment manufacturer Huawei applied for two patents related to preventing the use of external hacks and cheat programs with online games.

The patents have yet to undergo a substantive examination and so currently use of such technology does not constitute infringement. If Huawei applies for a substantive examination of the patents, and the patents are approved, it is likely that the company will license the patents to online game operators in exchange for royalty fees.
