CNNIC Modifies Chinese Domain Name Transfer Rules

Informed sources have revealed that the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) has modified its regulations on the transfer of Chinese domain names. Under the new rules, CNNIC requires the transferee to pay CNNIC one year worth of domain name operating fees, as well as pay the transferor 50% of the domain name's price as an administrative fee. The new regulations will came into effect from July 28, 2008, and are designed to prevent registrars from transferring the Chinese domain names of other registrars at a low price.
