Huawei Revenues Up 48% in 2007

Chinese telecom and networking equipment manufacturer Huawei has issued its annual report for 2007, with sales revenues reaching USD 12.56 bln, up 48% over the 2006 figure.
Net profit for the year increased 32% to USD 674 mln.
The report indicates that in 2007, Huawei shipped 10 mln mobile broadband terminals, over 20 mln mobile phones, and 20 mln wireless devices for fixed networks. In addition it deployed over 100,000 "green" base stations around the world, which it claims has led to the saving of the equivalent of 170,000 tons of coal in power consumption.
In 2007, the company won 45% of all UMTS/HSPA contracts worldwide, and accounted for 23.6% of China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) GSM contracts. It also won 44.8% of all new CDMA contracts worldwide, and installed a total of 12 commercial WiMAX networks globally. 72% of Huawei's 2007 contract sales came from international markets.
Huawei has over 81,000 employees worldwide, with over 35,000 (43%) working in R&D. Last year it spent 10% of revenues (USD 1.26 bln) on R&D, and by the end of 2007, had submitted a total of 26,880 patent applications.
