Netease to Begin CB of New Online Game

Online game developer and operator Netease (Nasdaq: NTES) has announced that it will begin closed beta testing of its self-developed MMORPG Legend of Westward Journey on July 5.

Editor's note: Legend of Westward Journey, the fourth in Netease's series of games loosely based on the Chinese classic "Journey to the West", incorporates a variety of new twists, including scenes borrowed from "A Chinese Odyssey" (Dahua Xiyou), a popular 1994 movie starring Hong Kong actor Stephen Chow. Netease has, reportedly, removed from this new game a number of the more repetitive processes built into the earlier games in its Westward Journey Online series, such as to make it more entertaining.
