Lou Peide: T-MMB Unqualified as Mobile TV National Standard
Sohu IT, 6/24/08
According to a June 23 report on China.com (8006.HK), T-MMB was selected as the national standard for mobile television/multimedia at an assessment conference held on June 21, and will be promulgated as the formal national standard for mobile television and multimedia content.
Lou Peide, Secretary General of the China Mobile Communications Association, professor at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT), and also promoter of competing standard CDMB has publicly criticized the selection, stating that standard-selection tests were not reasonable, that many of the experts on the selection panel were not technically proficient, that, while based entirely on T-DMB, T-MMB removed references to T-DMB in its documentation in order to avoid patent problems, and that even disregarding all of these problems, there are still numerous other issues with T-MMB's actual tests results and its standard documentation.
